The Truth about  iT Training

  I can't tell you how many times interviewed candidates informed me that they were looking for a company that would provide them with supplemental  iT  training.  My view on this is  very straight forward. If you are looking for a company to provide you with training on new technologies , I strongly suggest that you wake up and smell the coffee! If you want to keep up with technology and maintain high marketability , in the future you are going to have to spend your own money on your own time .

   I'll let you in on a little secret. Most companies will lie to you about their training philosophy. Sure they will dangle that large hiring training carrot in front of you during the interviewing process; but, the truth of the matter is that most companies today spend little if any money on training their IT employees. The reason for this is that they can not justify the cost. 

 Did you know that it is cheaper to recruit a new candidate with  newer  technology skills  than to train one of their own existing employee's. Besides, why spend the money on their own employees who will most likely leave the company anyway by their 2nd year anniversary. In the future, the average time spent with an  iT employer  will be 1.5 years or less.   

 It all comes down to cost ! In the future, iT  company training will be a rarity. So please don't be fooled by misleading stories told by Project Managers or HR representatives during your next interview. This is the truth ! If you don't believe me , ask for mandatory training to be placed in your offer letter. You will see how serious they really are about their internal training program. .......
