Information Technology
Means Change.....
If you either resist
change or are tired of change, I recommend you find another profession
outside of Information Technology. In the new century, smaller
companies will be eaten up by large companies even quicker. In
addition, most managers will have to modify their internal IT
departments on a regular basis to keep up with the introduction of new
technologies. Older technology positions will be eliminated for new
technology requirements every 3 years. In addition the average IT
professional will be forced to be an expert in a variety of client
server technologies. The days of knowing one language or operating
system will no longer be viable in the new century. IT professionals
will be forced to update their education on a more frequent
basis.
Most high paying internal
positions will be replaced with consultants. The consultant
payroll will provide the flexibility needed for controlling and
getting the most from limited iT budgets. In addition, the
flexible consultant payroll will allow companies to remain technically
competitive with other companies by spending allocated
monies in focused areas. Unlike permanent employee payrolls that
disallow for needed economical change, consultants can be let go
after their service is no longer needed. Company loyalty will
decrease even more rapidly in the next 5 years. In the future ahead, I
expect most advanced iT professionals will all be independent
consultants.
